2007

Wagga Eisteddfod - Dance Teams, Boys Street Beat and Adult Classes performed in the first eisteddfod of the year. The day started off brilliantly for the Senior girls with a win in the Open Jazz troupe (a BIG achievement). Other wins on the day can be found on the achievements page.

Relay For Life - Dance team performed at Relay for Life in Wagga on the grass in front of the music stage. Several dance team girls got together to make a team - "So You Know We Can Dance". We had a tent with WAPA coloured balloons and a cake stall. The team ended up raising $250 which was a great effort.

Australia Day Display - The day started off with the Wagga Wildcats performing cheers in the area around the civic theatre, where people were lining up for their free breakfast - get the Australian spirit going! Later on in the day dance team performed outside the council chambers with several dances including the obvious two - "Australia" and "I Still Call Australia Home".

2006

The Wildcats competed at the Wet'n'Wild Cheerleading Competition on the Gold Coast on 30th September 2006.

Both Junior and Senior Squads were very successful achieving medals for all events and the award for the 'Best Spirit', thanks to the cheer groupies (families and friends) who went along to support us.

Results

Senior Pom Dance - 1st Place
Senior Cheer/Stunt - 3rd Place
Mixed Cheer/Stunt - 3rd Place
Junior Cheer/Stunt - 3rd Place

Bunnings Fundraiser Day
At 10am on Saturday 6th May, Dance Team took their tribute show to Bunnings Warehouse for a fundraiser/community day. They performed in front of the small stage that was provided for them with the music taking a break halfway through Footloose. WAPA ran the Fairy Floss stall collecting gold coin donations that will support either the Cheerleaders on their Queensland trip or Dance Team's trip to Hong Kong next year. $200 was raised from Fairy Floss and Lydia drove back down to the Bunnings car park at around lunch time for a raffle that each business there on the day was put into. Five $1000 were up for grabs with the first business to be read out....WAPA! The academy won $1000 to once again put towards the cheerleaders and Dance Team.

Coolamon On Display
Dance Team and the Cheerleaders performed in the main street of Coolamon for the Coolamon on Display festivities. Dance Team performed their Tribute Show with quick rushes across the street to our desgnated spot to get changed (down the side of a building). The Junior Cheerleaders performed their Bring It On dance and then the Seniors did theirs. The music skipped a bit at the start but that got the audience laughing.

Australia Day
Australia Day for WAPA was spent performing at festivities at the Civic Theatre. As soon as the free breakfast had finished, it was time for us to head over to the marquee which we were to perform under. Wearing our sparkly red dresses, both the Senior and Junior Dance Teams put on an Australian Tribute Show performing acts by Australian artists such as Kylie Minogue, Vanessa Amorosi, Nikki Webster, and Marcia Hines. The performance ended and it was time for us to set out to have lunch and be back at the Civic Theatre by 12:30pm, half and hour before the start of the Australia Day Talent Quest which was our next challenge.

The Talent Quest was started off by Jessica, doing her impression of the famous Dolly Parton. The second half of the show then began with 'Broadway', the opening dance of our 2005 Hollywood concert, and to complete the Talent Quest, the Senior Dance Team performed their wonderful '5,6,7,8' Tap Troupe which won the 'Dance Award' at the end of the day.
